The Coyote trio wins Summit honors

SIOUX FALLS – South Dakota Swim and Dive Team Members Stella Fairbanks, Taylor Buhr and Mack Sathre were selected as the TicketSmarter Summit League’s Top Performers of the Week, announced by the league on Tuesday.

Fairbanks, a junior from Highland, Michigan, is named female diver of the week for the first time this season and the 11e time in his career. She earned an NCAA zone qualifying score on the three-meter springboard with her score of 284.70 when she won the event at the Coyote Extravaganza. She also won the one meter competition with a final score of 259.90.

Buhr, a freshman from Bettendorf, Iowa, earns female swimmer of the week honors for the first time after two productive days at the Coyote Extravaganza where she won three individual events as well as a relay.

Buhr won the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke in the same competition for the third time this season, winning the shortest race in 1:05.08 and the longest in 2:23.14. She also won the 100 IM with a 59.35 lead in the Summit League, a time that moved her to eighth place on the school’s all-time charts. She swam on a winning 400 medley relay team and added a leg to a third 200 medley relay team.

Sathre, a senior from Sartell, Minnesota, produced six top-seven finishes during the two-day, Coyote Extravaganza held at the Micdo Aquatic Center in Sioux Falls. The two-time Summit League champion in the 100 IM won the event in 52.62. He also placed fifth in the 400m individual medley and seventh in the 100m freestyle.

Sathre swam a winning 400m freestyle relay as well as a pair of runners-up relays, the 200m medley and 400m medley.

South Dakota has a week off before its last competition of the first half, the three-day Augustana Invite at the Midco Aquatic Center Nov. 17-19.
