The Coyote Classic basketball tournament is set to begin on Thursday, December 9, with 11 teams competing throughout the three-day tournament at the gyms at Shelby High School and Shelby Elementary School. There are no COVID-19 restrictions in place for games and a purchased ticket is valid throughout the day at both gyms. Tickets are available at the door. The cost is $ 7 for adults and $ 5 for students each day.
This year’s tournament features Cut Bank, Chinook, Belt, Fairfield, Florence-Carlton, Froid / Medicine Lake, Loyola Sacred Heart, Malta, Three Forks and Shelby. Boys and Girls, JV and College will take part in an action-packed basketball weekend!
The Shelby College boys will play Friday at 6 p.m. against Froid / Medicine Lake, followed by the Lady Coyotes at 7:30 p.m. during the last match of the tournament against Florence at 7:30 p.m.
On the Shelby JV side of the tournament, the Lady Coyotes JV meet Loyola Friday morning at 9 am in the Shelby Elementary School gymnasium, followed by the JV boys playing Loyola at 10:30 am The girls are back in action Saturday at noon with the Lady Sugarbeeters of Chinook. The boys will be on the field at 4:30 p.m. against Froid / Medicine Lake.
The Cut Bank Wolves varsity team will play the first game of the tournament, against Chinook at 3:00 p.m., followed by Lady Wolves and Beeters at 4:30 p.m. At the JV tournament, the Lady Wolves kick off the tournament at 3:00 p.m. h at Shelby Elementary School Gym vs. Chinook.
This game will be watched by the Cut Bank men’s team who will also play at the Chinook from 4:30 pm. Wolves will see no more action on Friday but will return to tournament competition on Saturday at noon, with the college girls taking on Cold Lake / Medicine. The college boys will follow suit against the
Lac Froid / Medicine, from 1:30 p.m.
The Lady Wolves JVs start the day at 9 a.m. playing Three Forks, followed by the boys team at 10:30 a.m., also playing Three Forks.
The Browning Indians JV women’s team will join the action on Friday against the Lady Mustangs at 6 p.m. ET. The Lady Indians JV team will play again on Saturday against the Belt Huskies at 3:00 p.m.
All varsity games will be played at Shelby High School and JV games will be played at Shelby Elementary School.
