My favorite heavy metal bands

Some say that the younger generations don’t appreciate good music anymore, in an ongoing conversation on how great bands lack the appreciation they deserve among youngsters. Well, in some cases nothing could be further from the truth.

Discovering new and exciting music is always a fun thing to do, and there are so many available options, that this could go on forever. But sometimes we just need to go back to the classics and, depending on the mood, reconnect to that music that shifted entire generations.

In this case, we are going to talk about – you guessed it – heavy metal bands. Rock music has so many great things to offer, from empowering songs to ballads that make even the toughest people question many things.

Here’s a list of the bands I always return to when I want to feel like a rockstar in my life and get pumped up for the next challenge. Take a look below and see if these fit your favorites as well, or if your list looks differently.

There is simply no way to not include the giants from Metallica in this list. After all, they are one of the bands who changed and reshaped the way rock music sounds. Without the band’s influence, there a chance we would be listening to a style that would sound completely different.

Metallica was introduced in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009, and to this day released, among many others, 10 studio albums, 37 singles, and 39 music videos. With 9 Grammys won, you can only imagine why it is one of the most commercially successful bands of all time.

Another great addition to the list, Slayer was founded in 1981 and its fast and aggressive music style is what gave it a place among the trash metal founders. The third album released by the band, Reign in Blood, is often viewed as one of the most influential albums in its genre to this day.

However, things are not looking great. At the beginning of 2018, Slayer announced one final world tour in which it will says goodbye to its fans everywhere. The lineup also announces itself to be quite heavy, so if you think you should not miss this out, check out the band’s website.

Led Zeppelin

For the next band that made it to the list, there is little need for an introduction as it’s considered one of the most successful, innovative, and influential rock groups in history.

A bit older compared to the previous two bands of the selection, as it was founded in 1968, Led Zeppelin’s heavy and guitar-driven sound, as well as its unique style influenced by folk music, blues, and psychedelia, made it one of the founders of heavy metal music.
